About Sunset Rewind

A chapter of California Rewind.

California Rewind is a nonprofit working with students to change the way high school sports are covered.

Sunset Rewind has provided the best in-depth coverage of Sunset League football since 2021.

In 2024, with help from our student-led marketing team, we are expanding the coverage to all 19 CIF high school sports (boys and girls).

Schools that we cover are:

  • Edison
  • Newport Harbor
  • Corona del Mar
  • Huntington Beach
  • Marina
  • Fountain Valley

Experiential Learning Curriculum

We engage with students from each high school with hands-on experiences and reflection in six career tracks:

  • In-Studio Assistant
  • Sideline Reporter
  • Videographer & Editor
  • Social Media Specialist
  • Sports Marketing Specialist
  • Action Photographer & Editor

Experiential Learning Curriculum

  • Students will gain proficiency in one or more of the six technical tracks.
  • Students are exposed to works and philosophy: Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill and Coach John Wooden
  • Students will learn to collaborate in real-world online digital sports media marketing
  • Students will build their technical portfolio on our website

Athletes Outcomes

  • Athletes will be covered (interviewed, written about, photographed, videoed) throughout their season
