In a tightly contested battle on Saturday night, Edison vs Corona del Mar came down to a one point game in the final moments, 62-61. Both teams had their share of momentum, but late in the game, Edison sealed the narrow victory.
The game opened with high energy, as Edison took a 23-18 lead after the first quarter, setting the tone with aggressive offense and strong rebounding. Corona del Mar responded in the second, matching Edison’s 16 points to keep the deficit at five going into halftime. Maxwell Scott led the way for the Sea Kings, finishing with a team-high 17 points while dishing out four assists. Oliver Nakra was also a key contributor, adding 15 points while hitting four three-pointers to keep CdM within striking distance.
Corona del Mar found their rhythm in the third quarter, outscoring Edison 20-9 to take the lead. Aiden Cole was a major factor during this stretch, providing an inside presence and finishing with nine points and ten rebounds. Jackson Harlan also played a crucial role, contributing eight points and adding seven rebounds while maintaining defensive intensity. The Sea Kings seemed to have control heading into the fourth quarter, but Edison wasn’t done yet.
The Chargers closed the game with a 14-7 fourth-quarter advantage, capitalizing on crucial possessions while slowing down CdM’s offense. Derick Johnson led Edison with 24 points, making key shots down the stretch while adding six rebounds and two assists. Jayden Oei contributed 11 points, including two three-pointers, while Devyn Blake contributed nine points and nine rebounds.
Despite a strong overall effort from Corona del Mar, Edison’s resilience in the closing minutes made the difference. The game featured multiple lead changes and intense defensive battles, but in the end, Edison found a way to secure the hard-fought 62-61 victory.
