Corona del Mar Falls Short to Rolling Hills Prep in Tight Playoff Loss (2025)

Corona del Mar fought hard in a home playoff battle against Rolling Hills Prep on Friday night but ultimately fell short in a narrow 64-62 loss. The game saw multiple lead changes and intense moments, but Rolling Hills Prep made key plays in the closing minutes to secure the win.
CdM came out strong in the first quarter, outscoring Rolling Hills Prep 17-14 and establishing an early rhythm. Their momentum carried into the second quarter, where they put up 19 points, but Rolling Hills Prep responded with 24 of their own to take a slight lead heading into halftime. The second half continued to be a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading baskets and defensive stops.
Despite a solid defensive effort in the third quarter, CdM struggled offensively, scoring only 12 points compared to Rolling Hills Prep’s 13. Heading into the fourth, both teams were locked in a tense showdown. CdM made a late push with 14 fourth-quarter points, but Rolling Hills Prep was able to match their intensity and hold onto the two-point victory.
CdM’s offensive production was led by Maxwell Scott, who had a team-high 18 points, including four three-pointers. Oliver Nakra was a key contributor as well, adding 16 points while showing his ability to get to the rim. Jackson Harlan played an all-around game with 13 points and six rebounds. Luke Mirhashemi also provided valuable minutes, chipping in four points and grabbing two steals.
On the defensive end, CdM worked hard to contain Rolling Hills Prep’s offensive attack. However, Rolling Hills Prep found consistent production from Mylo Murphy, who led his team with 17 points, and Nick Welch Jr., who added another 17 points to power their offense. Mateo Trujillo and Casey Palmer also made key plays down the stretch, combining for 18 points.
The game was a testament to CdM’s resilience and ability to compete at a high level, even in tough playoff situations. Despite the loss, the team delivered strong performances and grit throughout the game. As their season concludes, CdM can take pride in a hard-fought effort and an exciting playoff run that pushed their opponents to the very end.
