Edison Chargers Shut Down The Palos Verdes Sea Kings (2021)

After suffering a loss in the last minute of their game last week against Orange Lutheran, the Edison Chargers stormed their way back into the win column on the road against Palos Verdes by a final score of 49-3 on Friday.

Parker Awad was sensational. He had no trouble passing the ball, and when the gaps were closed, he created openings for himself.

Awad and his wide receiver Nico Brown connected for a touchdown pass twice in the first quarter. The first scoring pass for 44 yards, and the second for 30.

Palos Verdes would respond with a field goal with 11 minutes left in the first half to make the score 14-3. The Chargers responded to those three points with three touchdowns in the same quarter. A 2-yard touchdown run from Awad to make the score 21-3 with four minutes left in the second, quickly followed by a Cody Grbic interception return for a touchdown to make it 28-3, and a last minute 5-yard touchdown run from the always present running back, Troy Fletcher, to put Edison out in front 35-3 at halftime.

Thanks to his strong arm and rapid mobility, Awad finished the game completing 13 of his 18 passing attempts, alongside 38 rushing yards, two touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns.

Edison scored their last points of the game in the third quarter. A 10-yard touchdown run from Awad put them ahead 42-3, and they topped off their offensive parade with a loud 50-yard touchdown pass from Awad to Tucker Tripp. Tripp finished the game with five receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown.

Fletcher continued to boost his stats running the football. He carried the ball eight times for 71 yards and a touchdown.

The Edison defense controlled their side of the field. They held the Sea Kings to a field goal and a touchdown. Grbic had two interceptions.

The Chargers (2-2) will host the San Clemente Tritons (3-1) in Huntington Beach this Friday at 7 p.m.
