Edison Routes Fountain Valley in Traditional Fashion (2022)

Huntington Beach – ‘Cap’ Sheue Field

Edison High School quarterback Parker Awad threw four touchdowns and the special teams unit blocked three punts in a 50-0 rout of Fountain Valley on Friday night at Orange Coast College.

“The defense played lights out,” Edison head coach Jeff Grady said. “Coming in here and playing well always feels good. We have a bunch of guys that care about each other and play for one another. I feel good about our team.”

Senior wide receiver Tucker Tripp caught two touchdowns and Mason York recovered a blocked punt in the end zone to help Edison improve to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in Sunset League play.

On the opening possession for Fountain Valley, York blocked the punt to set up Edison at the Barons 25-yard line. Awad connected with Tripp, who muscled his way into the end zone for a 25-yard touchdown.

Awad found York in the end zone for a 25-yard touchdown. The 2-pt conversion was good and Edison took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

After a sack by Jackson Irwin to force a punt, Nicholas Preston added a 34-yard field goal to give Edison a 24-0 lead. Awad connected with Tripp once again, this time on a 10-yard touchdown and Edison extended the lead 31-0 right before halftime.

The Edison special teams blocked another punt to open the third quarter. On the ensuing drive, Awad hit tight end Dylan Hugues for a 2-yard touchdown.

On the next drive, linebacker Logan Gregory intercepted a pass and returned it for the score to give Edison a 43-0 lead in the third quarter. The Barons were pinned deep in their own territory when the special teams blocked another punt and York recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown and a 50-0 lead.

Edison will end the regular season when they take on Corona Del Mar on Friday, Oct. 28.
