Huntington Beach Oilers Drill the Laguna Hills Hawks, 42-3 (2024)

There was never an inclination in the Oilers’ mind that would resemble losing, and they brought that energy Friday night. Expanding their win streak on the road, quarterback Brady Edmunds and receiver Troy Foster would strike first in their opening drive with just five plays. 

A minute and 52 seconds into the first half Huntington has already marched 60 yards into the Hawks’ territory, Edmunds darts a 10-yard pass to Foster for their first 6 points. Kicker, Mattheo Zavala also secured the first and all five other extra-point conversions. With four minutes left in the 1st quarter, the Oilers this time covered a 60-yard gain in a minute and 35 seconds. Edmunds rushes in for a 1-yard touchdown. The score ending the 1st quarter is 14-0.

Edmunds showed the strength of his arm with an outstanding 222 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, he completed 12 for 17. But the air wasn’t their only line of attack. Running-back Micah Riola ran for 53 rushing yards and received an 18-yard touchdown pass which bumped the score to 21-0. 

The Oilers would score two more times on Laguna Hills just before the half leaving them at 35-0. A 41-yard pass to Troy Foster for a touchdown was followed shortly by another 10-yard scoring run by Brady Edmunds to close the half. 

With just over three minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Riola plows through the D-line for a 1-yard touchdown run, 42-0. In the 4th, Laguna Hills had finally hit a field goal giving them some presence on the scoreboard. 42-3 is the final score. 

Huntington Beach faces La Habra on October 11th at home for Senior Night.
