Huntington Outlasts Foothill in Well Fought Matchup, 43-29 (2024)

Los Altos Hills – Ned Permenter Stadium

Huntington Beach secured a solid 43-29 win over Foothill on Friday night, extending their road winning streak to three games.

The Oilers’ offense was on fire, with quarterback Brady Edmunds delivering a standout performance, throwing for 414 yards and five touchdowns. His connection with wide receiver Troy Foster proved to be unstoppable, as Foster racked up 213 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Edmunds, in addition to his passing prowess, added 35 rushing yards, the most he’s had since August, solidifying his versatile contribution to the victory.

Foothill started strong, keeping the game tied at 22-22 by halftime, but the Oilers’ explosive second-half performance was too much to handle. Nathan Gouvion was a key player for the Knights, totalling 77 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 91 yards. Gouvion’s biggest highlight came from a 50-yard reception that set the tone early on. Quarterback Gino Marchetti added 179 passing yards and two touchdowns in a solid offensive effort.

Defensively, Foothill managed to intercept Edmunds twice, with Preston Smith and Brady Holcomb each making key plays. Smith, who also recorded seven tackles, was monumental in keeping the Knights within reach.

Despite their efforts, Foothill couldn’t keep up with the high-powered Huntington Beach offense. The Knights have now lost three of their last four games, dropping to 4-4 on the season. Meanwhile, the Oilers improved to 5-3 and will look to carry their momentum into their upcoming home game against Crean Lutheran. Foothill will aim to rebound on the road next week when they face El Dorado, with both teams preparing for crucial matchups as the season progresses.
