Los Alamitos Beats St. Paul 31-14 (2024)

The Los Alamitos Griffins are proving themselves to be serious contenders this season, improving to 3-1 on Friday night, after a dominant 31-14 road victory over St. Paul. Initially labeled with a possible “rebuilding year” due to key transfers and injuries, the Griffins quickly disproved that, showing resilience and strong ability on the field.

“The mindset was just go in there and do what we got to do,” said Los Alamitos Junior wide receiver standout Tron Baker. “We can’t do anything about people leaving, transferring, going to college, injuries, but just put our heads down and play football.” His teammate, Junior linebacker Jackson Renger echoed that statement, emphasizing the team’s focus on winning rather than individual accolades. “In past years, some of us were chasing stars or offers. This year, we just want to win, that’s our only goal.”

The Griffins struck fast, taking a 17-0 lead with contributions from running backs Junior Jerod Terry Jr. and Sophomore Kamden Tillis, while reliable Senior kicker Benji Gamarnik added a key field goal. Renger and Baker led the defense, working hard to hold St. Paul to just 14 points.

Los Alamitos’ next challenge is a big one – a Saturday matchup against Clovis North, the number one team in their region. Despite the tough schedule, the Griffins remain confident. “We don’t duck anyone,” said Baker, as the team gears up for another critical test on the road to what they hope is a victorious season.
