Marina Vikings Bested By Kennedy Fighting Irish, 28-14 (2024)
Anaheim – Handel Stadium
After a four-game win streak in away games, Marina fell short to Kennedy High School Thursday night (28-14). Kennedy’s record bumps up with a well-fought victory making them now 6-3.
The Fighting Irish were determined to leave everything out on the field and it paid off. Running back Issac Talamantes turned on the jets rushing for 143 yards total and with an average of 7.9 yards per carry, and an additional 30 yards in receiving yards not to mention two touchdown runs.
In the first quarter, after a failed drive, the Fighting Irish punt it away only to be returned by Marina for a touchdown. The Vikings drew first blood making it (7-0) the start of the second quarter.
Kennedy’s offense would answer back in full, quarterback Devin Almazan threw for 161 yards and a touchdown, connecting mainly with receiver Mahseiah Banks who collected 49 receiving yards.
Kennedy held there own and kept the Vikings at bay holding them at 14. Marina took the loss to the chin but this marks only the first loss of the season for them. The Vikings still sit pretty with an 8-1 record making them worthy opponents in the coming weeks. Marina’s next bout will be against Beckman Friday night while Kennedy will try and replicate Friday night’s victory for another win, this time against Sunny Hills.
