Marina handled Wilson on Friday night, using a balanced offense and a strong defense to secure a 27-13 win. Senior running back Gabe Carles was the star for the Vikings, leading the charge with 98 yards on 27 carries and a touchdown.

Out of the gate, Marina’s defense set the tone, forcing Wilson’s offense into multiple mistakes. The Bruins nearly fumbled on both the opening kickoff and a bad snap during their first drive, signaling a long night ahead for Wilson.

Carles opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, putting Marina ahead 7-0. The Vikings extended their lead in the second quarter with a 23-yard field goal from Senior kicker Caiden Scolfield and a 9-yard touchdown run by Junior quarterback Francis Saporito, making it 17-0 by halftime.

Marina’s defense continued to choke Wilson’s efforts in the second half, with Scolfield adding a 17-yard field goal in the third quarter. Early in the fourth, Senior defensive back Shayden Sorochman intercepted Wilson’s Junior quarterback Mack Cooper at the Bruins’ 37-yard line, leading to a 9-yard touchdown catch by Senior wide receiver Shane Cassidy.

Wilson finally found some life in the final minutes, avoiding a shutout with a 98-yard drive that turned into a 10-yard touchdown pass from Cooper to Jaden Newman. In the game’s final seconds, Cooper connected with Junior wide receiver Thomas Jones for a 35-yard touchdown, but it was too late to change the outcome.

Despite a late rally, Wilson struggled for most of the game, while Marina executed their game plan, earning their second straight win of the season.
