Orange Comes Back in Season Opener vs Fountain Valley, 21-14 (2024)
Huntington Beach – ‘Cap’ Sheue Field
Fountain Valley suffered a heartbreaking 21-14 loss to Orange in a tightly contested, back-and-forth game on Friday night. Fountain Valley started off strong, with Junior running back Cameron Farr finding the end zone early, giving them a 7-0 lead. Their defense stepped up as well, with Senior safety AC Trang blocking a key field goal attempt from Orange, preventing them from taking control of the game.
Senior quarterback Lucas Alexander helped Fountain Valley regain momentum, connecting with Sophomore wide receiver Raymond Dillon Jr. on a well-executed post route. Farr followed up with another rushing touchdown, and the team went into halftime with a 14-7 lead. However, Orange responded in the second half, tying the game at 14-14 before hitting a deep pass late in the fourth quarter to pull ahead 21-14.
In the closing minutes, Alexander led a promising drive, finding Senior wide receiver Brady Tomko and Junior running back Sam Garza to push Fountain Valley into scoring range. But penalties and a crucial fourth-down stop by Orange ended the comeback hopes.
