Yucaipa Ends Marina’s Standout Season with 35-25 CIF-SS Playoff Victory (2024)
Westminster – Boswell Field
The Marina Vikings’ impressive season came to a close in a difficult 35-25 loss to Yucaipa in the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs. Marina’s defense, which had allowed only 12 points per game through the season, met its match in Yucaipa’s explosive offensive attack led by running back Deace Turner. Turner posted 165 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns, continuing a trend that has seen Yucaipa undefeated whenever he scores at least twice.
The Vikings fought hard, keeping the game within reach despite Yucaipa’s offensive push. Marina’s season ends with a commendable 9-2 record and marks the end of their six-game winning streak at home, stretching back to last season.
“Our team showed grit this season,” remarked a Marina coach, highlighting the Vikings’ achievements in a season filled with defensive dominance and strategic plays.
On the other side, Yucaipa, now 7-4, moves forward with significant momentum. The team’s balanced offense, including a 136-yard, two-touchdown performance by Logan Barbour, has been crucial to their recent success, which has contributed to them winning three of their last four games.
