Can’t Miss Game:

9/3/21 Edison vs. Orange Lutheran (LeBard Stadium at Orange Coast College)

Anytime we see a chance for a Sunset League team to go head-to-head with a Trinity League foe, we’re licking our
chops, even if the Lancers did only win one game in the shortened Spring 2021 season. This will be an early test for a Chargers team that was only one score away from winning the Sunset League last season.

10/8/21 Edison vs. Los Alamitos (Memorial Stadium at Westminster High School)

When these two teams met in March (COVID-spring season) it wasn’t yet known that this game would determine the 2020-21 Season Sunset League Champion. Edison still had to survive five OTs with Corona del Mar. Los Alamitos was victorious in this meeting 27-20 and it was their only real test of the short season. With a new quarterback, and over a dozen starters graduated, can the Chargers keep it close again and potentially even pull off the upset?

Outlook:

With a senior-heavy team in 2020-21, the Chargers, along with Los Al, are one of the teams we’re most disappointed
didn’t get a full season in the COVID shortened year. Even with QB Braeden Boyles gone to Benedictine College, one can expect Jeff Grady’s well-oiled Chargers to pick up right where they left off. Mater Dei transfers Parker Awad (QB) and Ashton Hurley (WR) should plug right into this electric Edison offense and keep the Chargers as the main threat to challenge Los Alamitos for the league title.
